guidelines

   ONE.
Mun is 25+. I will only write with people who are 18+ (21+ preferred), and will only follow people who have that listed somewhere on their blog. Beyond that, I'm willing to rp with most people. Mutuals will get priority.
Fair warning: I can be very slow with replies. Sometimes time, muse, and energy just don't line up, though I am trying to get better about this. Please feel free to remind me if you’re waiting for a reply from me.This blog is multiverse, multiship, multifandom friendly and OC friendly. If I don’t know your fandom, I’m willing to learn, and to answer questions you may have about mine. If we’re writing together, and you have OCs I haven’t followed yet, please tell me about them so I can write with them, too! "Duplicates" are welcome.
Personal blogs are free to follow, but please don’t reblog ic posts, headcanons, or musings.
   TWO.
I do my best to tag common triggers & anything my mutuals have asked be tagged; please let me know if I've forgotten. It's unlikely you'll find any heavy NSFW content here, and I definitely won't write smut.

   THREE.
Ships are welcome here! I don't expect romantic/sexual shipping to happen a lot with this muse, but I'm open to it. However, platonic ships and familial relationships are just as important and worth exploring.
If your character has an established relationship with mine in canon, I would prefer to plot with you before jumping into RPs. I’m happy to work with people from worlds with a very different version of “the Monster” (like if you’re writing Frankie Stein from Monster High, for example) to figure out what’s canon to our threads.   FOUR.
Feel free to send me a message any time. I love plotting and talking about our muses, but if you just want to chat about life in general, that's fine, too. Discord is available to mutuals on request, and I do sometimes rp there as well.
My tumblr sometimes randomly decides to unfollow people. If I no longer want to interact, I will hardblock; otherwise, feel free to let me know it's acting up again.==

main verse timeline

HUMAN   I.
1755-September 1789. A story of rags to riches to utter disgrace, ending in a lonely death observed by a certain Genevese scientist...

IV. (end of last verse- 1820s
Uprooted from the human community he was almost a part of, Adam wanders Europe, eventually crossing the Atlantic as a stowaway to arrive in New York. Learning of his apparent immunity to disease, he begins to serve as a healer for those who have run out of options.

   VII. (1890s-1910s)
Adam and the people close to him begin gathering allies, knowing they won't be able to hide away forever. In the supernatural variant of this verse, he and a few others form a team to handle incidents involving supernatural artifacts, seeking to keep humanity safe.==

FREAK SHOW II   X (19th and early 20th century)
Any of the times Adam went back to performing, beyond the decades when he did this consistently.

MUSICAL   II.
Covers the events of the musical, as modified (with book influences) for this blog's canon. This goes from the night of his "birth", to the moment he leaves Walton's ship after Victor's death.

   VIII. (1920s-1960s)
Adam works alongside various top secret government agencies to resolve crises involving the supernatural and/or would-be mad scientists. During this time he was able to earn his PhD, but those not present for that are unlikely to hear about it from him.

SUPERNATURAL AMBASSADOR   XI. (20th and 21st century)
Well-known and unlikely to attack anyone out of blind rage or hunger, Adam is chosen as one of several representatives of the Western United States supernatural community.

THE COMING OF THE DAWN   III. (1794-????)
Unable to die, Adam reluctantly leaves the extreme far north, ending up in a remote part of Siberia for a time. Desperation leads to a reluctant truce, for a time. He lives near a tiny village, doing what he can to help keep everyone alive.

FREAK SHOW   V. (1830s-1850s)
Adam joins a sideshow, performing as "the Frankenstein Monster" (not "Frankenstein's Monster"), knowing few will really believe that's the truth of his nature. Once he gets past the humiliation, he enjoys his time with them, having constant companionship and earning significantly more than the average worker would at the time.

FRONTIER   VI. (1870s-1890s)
After the American Civil War, having left the sideshow with his family, the little group begins traveling west, seeking a place to live quietly in peace.

   IX. (1960s-1980s)
After his trust is broken, Adam turns his back on the latest agency he was working with. He ultimately becomes one of the founders of a biotech company working to slowly get new innovations out to humanity without revealing anything too dangerous.

MODERN  XII.
Adam alternates between working with the company on various research projects, and breaking off to wander, often living on the streets unless someone needs him as a roommate.

FLAWLESS NEW DESIGN
The Creation is perhaps a little less disturbing, and Victor considers his experiment an unmitigated success. Frankenstein decides to carry out the next part of his plan and create other beings like Adam through the power of reanimation. They are no longer a stepping stone to ‘true’ resurrection, but instead, the end goal of these experiments. Or perhaps another scientist has taken over the project, dismayed by the wasted potential they saw in Victor Frankenstein’s approach?

SYNERGY
Some time in the future, humans create artificial intelligences. Conflicts abound, and in an attempt to avoid war, Adam, many of the new creations, and a handful of others build their own spaceship and leave the planet, forming a new, hidden society on a distant planet. Other refugees from humanity's cruelty are always welcome there. As for humans themselves, though? Well, let's just hope for their sakes they don't end up there.

AMONG THE STARS
Turns out, Victor made use of alien technology left on Earth by mistake. When its creators finally learn what happened, they return to invite Adam to leave with them. Did he have a choice? Well, he never had to find out. Living among strangers far kinder to him than his own people ever were, he makes a new life for himself. This is the initial setup for v: star trek (where it was shortly before the Eugenics Wars) and possibly v: doctor who.

BRAVE NEW WORLD
The Creation is perhaps a little less disturbing, and Victor considers his experiment an unmitigated success. After months of careful teaching, the Creature is introduced to the world. He spends the next several years being shown off to both the scientific community and hordes of other spectators. With his proper context as ‘one of the greatest scientific achievements of all time’ established, many onlookers react to his appearance with delighted horror, then grow to admire the creature’s strength, intelligence, and gentle nature.
Victor Frankenstein is flooded with inquiries from interested parties who believe beings like Adam would make ideal workers and soldiers. He refuses every demand. Eventually, someone (the government, a foreign power, etc.… can vary by thread) comes to raid the Frankenstein home while Adam is away. Victor is believed killed in the chaos, and the rest of the family scatters. Unable to protect his creator, Adam flees the country, taking Frankenstein’s journal with him. That fact delays their enemies, but it cannot stop them.In their protected enclave, Adam and his allies hear only rumors at first, each worst than the last: of tyranny and corruption; of political dissidents being taken from their homes and seen later, a shadow of their former selves; of cruel experiments performed on children. [v: a golden age, v: flawless new design, and v: brave new world are open for any enhanced human type; no need to look like Adam or have the same abilities. They can be refugees, enemies, volunteers from wherever Adam is living, etc]

   OF HEAVEN'S FIRE
Maybe he’d been alone too long, seen too much suffering, met too many people he was utterly powerless to help. Regardless, Adam grew to realize that what he’d always seen as the worst part of reanimation would, to some, be their salvation…
Humanity was running out of time. They could not all be saved, but he could give a few of them freedom from all memory of their trauma, near-immortality, and a new, supportive family.Despite his noble intentions, this version of Adam is far more manipulative and ruthless than usual. While he believes every word he says about human life being sacred and will require aspirants to prove they'll still care for others before fully joining them, he will find some way to silence anyone who might threaten the vision he deems so crucial to human survival. Those striving for resurrection, knowing he won’t turn his back on them for one “mistake” – no matter how serious an error – are often far worse.

MODERN PROMETHEUS
Present day. After witnessing the final moments of a dying murder victim, Victor Frankenstein steals the corpse, then sets about obtaining body parts from other sources, both legal and not, in an attempt to create a redesigned, “perfect” human. How and when the corpse is stolen can vary, as can later events. If allowed to proceed unchecked, the story unfolds in a way similar to how events would have gone in 1789, but it’s far more likely that someone finds out about all this and intervenes not long after Adam’s reanimation.

SILVER SCREEN
A hybrid between the novel, musical, and Frankenstein (1931) and Bride of Frankenstein.
The events of Frankenstein (the film) largely happen unchanged from the 1931 movie, except that Maria doesn't drown -- whether she fell into the lake or was indeed playfully pushed, 'the Monster' knew she was in trouble when she didn't resurface, but the rescue was witnessed and misinterpreted.
It is important to note that the brain used was only declared “abnormal” because of certain assumptions made from what the people studying his brain knew of his life, as was all too common at that time. He is mute here, however, not having learned to speak just yet.
In Bride of Frankenstein, the main differences are:-The Monster’s learning rate is much faster, and he’s with the blind hermit look enough to emerge as someone far more like the more articulate, philosophical character of the book and musical.-As a result, he is initially able to persuade Henry/Victor to continue his work.-When Frankenstein later balks, the Monster does help kidnap Elizabeth, but she's savvy enough to recognize that Pretorius is the real threat, and quickly gets the Monster on her side.-He ultimately believes her when she says Pretorius is evil, so brings the tower down on himself and the older mad scientist after the Bride rejects the Monster. (Or at least, he causes the world to think they both died there.)
-When he lets the others go, he pushes the horrified Bride towards Elizabeth, because he trusts her, not his maker, to ensure she has as good a life as possible.

**▍ MARVEL*
Based on piecing together his comic book storyline as best I can, making it a bit less ridiculous and more suitable for 2024.
After Frankenstein's death, he lives with a small group of people in the Arctic for a time (in "Monster of Frankenstein", they all end up being murdered) before a descendent of Captain Walton comes to drag him back to England. There he becomes infatuated with a woman who turns out to be a werewolf, foils a plot to rob people of their free will, and fights Dracula. Adam wins, but during the battle, his vocal cords are badly wounded, and the reanimated man finds himself unable to speak.
Later, Adam meets a grieving mutant woman, Angela, who seeks to build the illusion of a perfect world for herself, him, and a handful of others -- all of whom appeared in works of literature the young woman loves, but most of whom are just fictional characters. Although Adam knows this world is not real, he cannot bring himself to care, and remains there as Angela's only real companion from around 1910-1974.
She disappears one day, and he is forced to wake, wandering and getting into all sorts of trouble again until he finds a many-great niece of his creator, who repairs his vocal cords. He is then captured by Frankenstein's other niece, Victoria, who seeks to intimidate or shame him into helping the "Children of the Damned" -- victims of experimentation by Victoria's horrible father and grandfather.
Realizing Adam is far kinder than the family legends made him out to be, Victoria eventually becomes his friend and greatest ally, though she does maintain a worrying possessive streak.
She ages far more slowly than other humans, and while modern Adam travels a lot and lives in many places, he always returns to the family castle eventually.

   PRIZE COMICS: VILLAIN
Okay, so this is an obscure one, and needs even more tweaking than the Marvel verse. It probably won't get any use, but... I just want it to exist. Frankenstein, as he comes to eventually be called, starts out as an undisputed villain once he falls into loneliness-induced despair, seeking to destroy humanity. He does show signs from early on that he may relent, such as constantly testing them to try to find any good in humankind. However, humanity continues to fail these tests, and so he carries on with his plans.
He's conflicted enough to write to his creator before every attack, revealing his plans, and driving Victor's foster son to become the Monster's nemesis after Victor repeatedly fails to tell the authorities about any of this.

   PRIZE COMICS: REGULAR GHOULS
Eventually, a scientist finds him and treats him with sympathy, offering to create a companion for him if he will stop killing people. Although both the Bride and the scientist are murdered by an angry mob, Frankenstein still softens after this. When he's captured by the US government, and one scientist argues for his rehabilitation rather than his death, he gives up on his plans altogether, allowing them to essentially erase the majority of his past and alter his appearance so he can live peacefully alongside humans.
I'm... not doing the subplot where he gets brainwashed by Nazis and has to be rescued.
'Erasing vast parts of his memory' does sometimes make him oblivious, and he unknowingly takes over a mansion by making the previous occupants think it's haunted, then invites a bunch of vampires, ghosts, and others to live with him. Friends call him "Frankie",
Because he's aware of his past evils but has no real memory of them, he's much more relaxed and playful in this verse than usual.

The Creature

GENERAL .
•   name   :   Varies. He doesn't really have one, to start with. Depending on the subverse people may simply refer to him by his class (ex., "the paladin")
•   pronouns   :   He/Him. (But is okay with others as long as people avoid "it/its")
•   orientation   :   Biromantic demisexual/gray-ace. Usually will only experience sexual attraction when there’s a strong, positive emotional bond, but there are rare specific and often toxic circumstances where that’s not required.
•   species   :   Um...?
•   occupation/class   :   Varies
•   face claim(s)   :  Luke Goss and others. Picture here is from BG3 character creator.
PHYSICAL .
•   general notes   :  His features mark him as an escaped/abandoned experiment, which the people around him may recognize if they have much understanding of the arcane.
•   eyes   :   One light gray, the other yellow, and inclined to glow unless he's specifically focusing on dimming that effect.
•   hair   :    Long, black, and soft. Often considered one of his two good physical features, along with his perfect white teeth.
•   height   :   7'8"
•   build   :   Very slim
•   scars   :   Y-shaped incision running down his chest; a few smaller scars (like a thin white line on his right hand) he had before his death; more scars from post-mortem surgery on his legs, arms, and shoulders. Other serious injuries leave scars that may last for several years, but will eventually fade away.
•   touch   :   While his skin might be cold to the touch at any given time, his average body temperature is no colder than that of most other people. Touching him almost certainly won’t feel like touching a corpse!

DND/BG3 INFO .
•   race   :   Reborn; generally presumed to have been some variety of elf or drow. He does not believe he was ever in the Underdark prior to his death.
•   class   :
variant - the innocent: Storm Sorcerer/ Lore Bard/ Knowledge Cleric (ironically, unwitting)
variant - cautionary tale:
Oath of Vengeance Paladin/ Lore Bard
•   verse specific notes   :   Has advantage on death saving throws and against poison; can use "knowledge from a past life" feature. Mechanically, he's not undead -- it's more like resurrection with some unfortunate drawbacks. He has a heartbeat, he won't be able to get into places where only the dead can go, etc. When he approaches Humanoid strangers, if his face is not concealed and he is not disguised or employing a glamour, they may become frightened.

BACKSTORY: REANIMATION.
•   name   :   When Victor Frankenstein began obtaining the remains of paupers and criminals, his intent was not to create yet more mindless thralls, but a new race of strong and beautiful immortals who would adore him as their maker. What he got was a hideous abomination certain to make him and his prominent family the object of contempt and shame. The new creature awakened to scalpel tearing through flesh, unable to move or scream. A moment after he was finally able to stand, and begin walking unsteadily towards the only other living being he could see, Victor set the lab on fire and fled.
Panicked, the newly-awakened reanimant grabbed Victor’s cloak – with the journal detailing his creation in its pocket – and used it as a shield as he made his way through the flames, managing to fight his way out through a weak point in the wall.

BACKSTORY: THE INNOCENT.
Living in the wilderness and observing a family of refugees, the Creation began (re)teaching himself language. He found a few books to aid him in his quest, including an overview of historical applications of different kinds of magic. Given that sort of context for Victor's possible motivations and character, his experiment was extremely reluctant to seek him out, no matter how good-natured the man might pretend to be in his own writing. Repeated rejections and even an accidental killing were not enough. Despite his uncertainty over whether he could ever find people he could safely be around, there was little reason to assume Victor alone had the power to help, and the Creature chose to keep exploring other options.

BACKSTORY: CAUTIONARY TALE.
People speak of how when the creation tracked his creator down months later, Frankenstein attempted to assert his will over the being he’d given life, only to fail and find the dynamic reversed. “You may be my creator, but I am your master.”
Rumors abound as to how the story went from there, but there are some that have it mostly right, from the sightings that always ended badly for the poor Creature, to the abandoned attempt to create another like him, to the murders, to the wizard’s attempt to chase down his out of control experiment, even if he had to go to the ends of the world. They tell of how the would-be god died in the attempt, and the “creation” threw himself onto his creator’s funeral pyre. What they do not mention is how he discovered, to his confusion and horror, that Victor had forbidden him to die. Although the Creature believes it would be possible for someone to kill him, he’s compelled to fight against his own destruction at any cost.As for killing any necromancers who dared try using Frankenstein’s methods, though – and saving their victims from them, in whatever way he could – there was nothing and no one to stop him from doing that.
•  Note   : Rumors of Frankenstein's deeds, and perhaps even his Creature's, have begun to spread in this verse, and he's fairly recognizable. If you want your muse to know who/what he is, feel free.
